Phantom Channel mark their second physical release with a 3 track 3" CDr by Ekca Liena.
The disc begins with playful percussive sounds that give way to sweeping synths and deep drones, building to a claustrophobic dirge. Almost semi-psychedelic. The second track, aptly titled "Forest Tripping", is a murky, field recording based interlude, with sounds of the distant unknown creeping away in the background. The final track, and the highlight of the disc, brings back more playful percussive sounds over airy synths and more field recordings. Delay and echo are added to great effect and create a very trippy and lonesome sound, like you have just entered the complete unknown and are facing an inevitably fate. But there is a glimmer of hope as organ like textures build in the background. The small details and variations on the percussive sounds and the droning tones create such a fantastic sense of tension. As is with most of Ekca's music, there is so much depth to this, that you will notice more and more little things each time you listen. Last few copies, get it while you can!!
